Emery Lauten Meadows, Reiki Master-Teacher

Emery Lauten

Emery’s Reiki journey began in 2002, when she received her first Reiki Level I training and attunement from Reiki Master-Teachers Rita T. Henry and Mala Shaw. At that time, Emery began to practice and use Reiki energy for self-treatments and as an integral part of her massage therapy sessions.

In 2007, Emery felt a strong “calling” to deepen her relationship with Reiki healing energy. She made a journey to Infinite Light Healing Studies Center in Sedona, Arizona, where she received the necessary attunements and became certified by The International Center for Reiki Training in First & Second Degree Usui Reiki Ryoho with Reiki Master-Teachers Laurelle Shanti Gaia and Michael Arthur Baird. Emery immediately continued her Reiki training, receiving the necessary attunements and becoming certified as a Reiki Drumming Practitioner with Reiki Master-Teacher Michael Arthur Baird.

Emery began integrating Reiki even more into her massage therapy treatments, and also began offering independent Reiki sessions as part of her massage and bodywork business. Massage clients commented upon the increased energy they were feeling in their massage sessions, and Reiki clients began reporting amazing results.

Then in December of 2007, Emery’s mother was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer metastasized to her bones and liver. Due to its aggressiveness, the cancer was determined to be terminal and Emery’s mother began hospice care with an anticipated three months to live. During this time, Emery regularly gave Reiki treatments to her mother and arranged for a few Diksha treatments to be given, in addition to an aromatase inhibitor drug prescribed by the oncologist who deemed it "only a placebo" because he believed it would “not have time to work". After three months, Emery’s mother was significantly better and at four months PET scans showed no sign of cancer cells anywhere in her body. This miraculous experience encouraged Emery to continue deepening her knowledge and practice of energy healing.

In July of 2008, Emery completed a seven day residential Reiki Master training program with Reiki Master-Teachers Laurelle Shanti Gaia, Michael Arthur Baird and William Lee Rand. Emery received the necessary attunements and was certified by The International Center for Reiki Training as an independent Reiki Master in the Usui-Tibetan Reiki Ryoho system of healing.

In September 2008, Emery expanded her knowledge of energetic healing techniques by learning how to give Oneness Diksha (a blessing for spiritual awakening) through the Oneness University training program. Oneness Diksha (also known as The Oneness Blessing) is an energetic technique from India and the yogic tradition. Emery underwent an intensive seven day spiritual initiation process to become a Diksha facilitator (or Oneness Blessing Giver).

Emery has been practicing energetic healing techniques for twenty-one years. She began doing energy-work in 1991, as part of her personal healing journey.  Realizing that she had been unknowingly doing energy-work through performing in dance, vocal music and theater all of her life, Emery became interested in the shamanic and ritual origins of the performing arts. She was inspired her to learn how to do healing energy-work in group settings through the use of ritual, and created her Individualized Major at Drake University, called Ritual Theater, based on her interest in energy healing for large groups and in using ritual as a tool to facilitate personal healing and social transformation. Her faculty advisor was Daniel T. Spencer, a philosophy and religion professor who specialized in Liberation Theology. Over the past twenty-one years, in addition to the performing arts, massage therapy, and Reiki, Emery has studied yoga, energetic anatomy, breath-work, meditation, qigong, ritual, shamanism, djembe drumming, women’s spirituality, liberation theology and many other theories, practices and techniques for energetic healing and spiritual growth.
